Our Eco-Friendly Commitment

“The future will be green, or not at all. This truth lies at the heart of humankind’s most pressing challenge: to learn to live in harmony with the Earth on a genuinely sustainable basis”.

Sir Jonathon Porritt

Whilst we do not claim to be perfect, we do take seriously our commitment to the environment and have taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint whilst improving the quality of service at the salon. Our EcoDry towels are next-generation, super-absorbent fabric that uses the latest technological innovations in textile design to create luxurious disposable towels and other products that are recyclable and biodegradable and which offer the highest possible levels of hygiene.

Made using eco-friendly processes and without the use of chemicals and save an average of 4500 litres of water per week through reduced laundry cycles.

We are committed to recycling all of our cardboard and plastics and where possible purchase products made from recycled materials and 100% cruelty free and peta certified. We also don’t offer paper receipts and instead send by email unless specifically requested.

Below are our top ten “Eco tips” which you can follow at home.

1. OPT FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY
On average, you save 600g (21 oz.) of CO2 per KW of electricity consumed when you use renewable energy (wind, water and sun), as opposed to energy deriving from fossil fuels. Contact your local utility company for more information.

2. USE LOW-ENERGY LIGHTING
Choose light bulbs marked CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lights). They last 10 times longer and use 66% less energy than incandescent bulbs.

3. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF NATURAL LIGHT
Make the most of the natural light and reduce your electricity bill to a minimum by keeping the windows clean. The natural light is ideal for reading your client’s colour.

4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS
Did you know that by setting the thermostat just 2°C (4°F) lower in winter and regulating for a temperature 2°C higher in summer, a hair salon can reduce its CO2 emissions by 499 kg (1,100 lb) annually? Think what you can do for your own emission; it will do well to the environment and your own bills.

5. WHENEVER YOU CAN, DO RECYCLE
Equip your house and office with recycling bins for paper, plastics, glass and aluminum.

6. SAY GOODBYE TO PAPER
You don’t need paper invitations and flayers: just use email and social media.

7. FIX LEAKING TAPS
Remember to always turn off the tap when applying products: this is an inexpensive device that can reduce your water bill by 50%. A leaking tap can waste 20 gallons of water a day, simple plumbing maintenance is probably the cheapest and easiest way to save money.

8. ONLY USE YOUR WASHING MACHINE WHEN IS FULL
Wait until your washing machine is full with towels and other linens before you run it. Moreover, using your washing machine’s cold-water program avoids producing large quantities of CO2 (and your linens come out just as clean). These are simple ways to conserve both energy and water.

9. REUSE RAINWATER
Collect rainwater to water plants.

10. TURN TO A DIGITAL AGENDA
Digital devices are very common nowadays: swap your paper agenda with a digital agenda (set it on your PC, tablet, or smartphone) to manage your appointments and other information. It’s more efficient and will save a lot of paper.
